A Raleigh Tradition Since 2002

The first Kirby Derby Day was in 2002 on Kirby St, a part of the tiny neighborhood, Pullen Park Terrace, which is just southwest from downtown. The neighborhood continues to develop and manage Kirby Derby, but many many more neighborhoods are represented by participants, costumed spectators and volunteers. 2017 was the first year at its new location in Dorothea Dix Park. Since then, Dix Park, Dix Conservancy and the City of Raleigh have all supported the growth and production of Kirby Derby.

Awards and Recognition

2017 National Neighborhood Award Winner!:
Pullen Park Terrace was awarded 2nd prize nationally for 2017 Neighborhood of the Year, specifically for the project of Kirby Derby!

2019 Raleigh Citizen Advisory Council Winner:
Remember when neighborhoods used to have a voice? Well, back in those good old days of 2019, Pullen Park Terrace was recognized by the Hillsborough-Wade CAC for contributing to Raleigh with Kirby Derby!
